Jose Madera Martinez, 19, was recovered in 12 feet of water at Kittatinny Point in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on Sunday morning, July 17.
Martinez had gone missing on Thursday night, July 14, while swimming in the river at the Karamac trailhead with three other persons.
Two swimmers were rescued by Portland Hook and Ladder Company volunteers, and one walked to shore.
The search for Martinez was conducted by the National Park Service, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the New Jersey State Police.
The search was hampered by strong currents and low visibility in the river.
Martinez's body was found by a National Park Service search team using side-scan sonar.
The cause of death has not yet been released.
Martinez's family has been notified of his death.
